How Do I Know God Is Speaking? (Hearing God, Faith, & Obedience)
How do you know God is speaking to you? And how do you tell His voice apart from your own thoughts, other people’s opinions, or last night’s bad pizza? 🍕 In this message from our Table Conversations series, Pastor Nathan Kollar unpacks how to hear, discern, and OBEY the voice of God.
God is a God who speaks. He speaks through His Word, His Spirit, His people, and His creation (Genesis 1:3, Psalm 19, Hebrews 1). The real question is whether we’re listening. Pastor Nathan uses the story of Mary and Martha (Luke 10) to show how the busyness of life can drown out the most important voice we’ll ever hear. He also explains why we need God to give us “ears to hear” (Luke 8).
Then the message turns to a key principle: the more you obey His voice, the more you’ll hear His voice. Drawing on John 10, Luke 6:46–49, and James 1:22, Pastor Nathan invites us to go back to our “last orders” from the Lord and start there. He also shows how to discern God’s leading with JOY instead of fear (1 Thessalonians 5:16–22), using the phrase “it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us” (Acts 15:28). And he calls us to repent and return to God’s voice every single day.
